On Friday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot near the Eastgate Town Center. The incident happened around 10:00 am as the person was walking in the parking lot in the area. Victor Miller with Chattanooga Police said that a suspect or suspects began shooting at the victim, and he was hit.

The Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Fire Department, and Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. They reported hearing two gunshots and witnessing the victim enter the building after being shot.

Across from where the shooting took place is Molly Maid, an office in a commercial building. Sheena Crow, the office manager, mentioned hearing gunshots fired while she was in her office. She went outside to see what was happening when she heard firetrucks and ambulances arriving on site. Crow expressed concerns about safety measures following this incident, referencing a previous shooting at T-Mobile on Brainerd Road weeks ago. She felt it alarming that two shootings had occurred so close together and decided to implement stricter security measures such as keeping their doors locked at all times and ensuring employees have keys for door security. This has raised concerns among residents and business managers in the area about their safety and prompted them to take extra precautions.
