Celebrating 60 Years of Health-Focused Business: The DuBois Health Food Center Story

Carson’s DuBois Health Food Center Celebrates 60 Years of Success

In 1964, Phil DuBois took a chance on health foods and vitamins by opening the first DuBois Health Food Center in a small closet in his massage shop on Corbett Street in Carson City. Over the following decades, the store changed locations and expanded in size, but remained in the DuBois family. After Phil’s passing in 2017, his wife Judy ran the store until this year when her health issues made it difficult to manage. Their grandson, Justin Justus, stepped in to help with operations, marking the fourth generation of the DuBois business.

This May 1st marks the 60th anniversary of DuBois Health Food Center. The store has been a staple in Carson City for six decades, providing the community with health-focused products and services that have stood the test of time. Despite facing some challenges like losing customers during a move to a new location and competition from large chain stores, Justin remains confident in the unique products and services they offer at DuBois Health Food Center. He believes that their focus on quality herbs and vitamins that larger stores may not prioritize is what sets them apart and will continue to drive their success.

Located at 1851 N. Carson St., just south of Butler Meats, DuBois Health Food Center is open Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, customers can call 775-882-2451. The store offers a variety of health-related products from local vendors such as vitamins, herbs, bulk grains, and homeopathic products. It has been a vital part of the community for over six decades and continues to provide essential health resources to those who seek them out
