Apple and OpenAI in Talks for AI Integration in iPhone’s iOS 18 Operating System: Exclusive Report

Apple Revisits Use of OpenAI Generative AI Technology for Upcoming iPhone Features

Apple Inc has reignited discussions with OpenAI regarding the integration of generative artificial intelligence technology from the startup into new features on the iPhone this year. According to a report by Bloomberg News, the companies are in talks to discuss the terms of a potential agreement and how OpenAI’s features will be incorporated into the next iPhone operating system, iOS 18.

Apple and OpenAI have not yet responded to media requests for comment on the report. Last month, it was reported that Apple was also in discussions with Google to license its Gemini chatbot for new iPhone features. However, Apple has not made a final decision on which partners to use and could reach agreements with both OpenAI and Google or other providers as a whole.

When it comes to implementing generative artificial intelligence that can generate human-like responses to written prompts, Apple is seen as slower than competitors like Microsoft and Google, who have already integrated this technology into their products. In February, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the company is investing significantly in generative artificial intelligence and will provide more details about its plans to use the technology this year.
