Brewing Passion: Jacob Asher Galbraith’s Journey from Chef to Coffee Roaster

New Downtown Shop Brewing Up Fresh Coffee

Jacob Asher Galbraith, a native of Northern Virginia and culinary nutrition graduate from Johnson & Wales University, is the owner of Asher’s Coffee Beans. After working as a chef at Wilderness Adventure in New Castle and heading dining services at Springtree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Roanoke, Galbraith launched his own coffee business in 2021.

Galbraith began with a pop-up event at a hardware store in Salem before expanding to farmer’s markets and wholesaling his coffee. In 2022, he opened his own shop located at 425 Campbell Ave S.W. in Roanoke, where he roasts his beans using an Aillio Bullet drum roaster.

Asher’s Coffee Beans offers about 17 different blends and single origin coffees sourced from around the world. The current best-selling roast is a low-acid blend from Peru, and customers can enjoy a variety of blends and single origin coffees all roasted in-house and served with care.

With a passion for quality coffee and a background in the culinary arts, Galbraith brings a unique perspective to the coffee industry. His dedication to roasting and sourcing the finest beans from different regions has set Asher’s Coffee Beans apart from other coffee shops in the area. Customers can taste the difference in every cup, whether they prefer bold, medium or light roasts.
