Several arrests made in shooting incident outside St. Petersburg sports bar on Easter Sunday

Police in St. Petersburg have arrested several suspects in connection to a shooting that occurred on Easter Sunday outside a sports bar, leaving four people injured. The suspects are linked to rapper Rodarius Green, also known as “Rod Wave.” Three suspects have been taken into custody, with two more expected to be arrested soon.

The investigation into the shooting began when police identified a group known as “Young Gangsters,” or YGs, as the perpetrators. Chief Anthony Holloway stated that the suspects fired shots into a crowd outside the Sonic Sports Bar and Lounge, leaving over 60 shell casings at the scene. The YGs are closely associated with Rod Wave and were found to live in homes registered in his name.

During the investigation, police discovered multiple firearms, ammunition, cash, and jewelry in connection to the suspects. The victims of the shooting, who are all expected to survive, were not acquainted with the shooters and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Additionally, six vehicles were damaged by gunfire.

The three suspects in custody are facing charges of attempted second-degree murder. Kevontre Wesby also faces charges of carrying a concealed firearm and delinquent possession of a firearm. The arrests in this case are part of ongoing investigations into shooting and drug trafficking activities linked to the YGs and Rod Wave.
