Zelensky Alleges Russia Planning to Mobilize 300,000 More Troops in June, Moscow Refutes Claim

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday that Russia is preparing to mobilize an additional 300,000 soldiers in June. However, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov denied this claim, stating that it is not true. Zelensky made the announcement during a press conference with Finnish president Alexander Stubb in Kyiv, where he also mentioned that Ukraine doesn’t need half a million troops throughout the year. Last December, Zelensky had said that army commanders had requested the mobilization of 500,000 additional men.

During the same press conference, Stubb declined to speculate on a scenario where Finland would send troops to Ukraine. He emphasized that Finland supports Ukraine and signed an agreement to provide security guarantees to Ukraine for the next ten years. The priority at the moment is to provide Kyiv with weapons, ammunition, training, and support its path to entering the European Union (EU) and NATO.
