Rory McIlroy Makes Zurich Classic Debut Alongside Shane Lowry: A Look at Their Records and Recent Performance

McIlroy and Lowry to join forces at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy is set to play in the Zurich Classic next month, marking his first appearance at the tournament. He will be joining forces with Shane Lowry, a fellow European Ryder Cup teammate, for the event. The Zurich Classic takes place from April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana, just a week after the RBC Heritage.

This means that McIlroy could be playing in his fourth consecutive tournament, following the Valero Texas Open, the Masters, and the event at Harbour Town. In 2024, McIlroy has already played seven times worldwide, including two starts on the DP World Tour. This is two more starts than he had at this point last year.

McIlroy recently returned to PGA National for the Cognizant Classic and tied for 21st, marking his first visit to the course since the 2018 Honda Classic. On the other hand, Lowry has participated in the Zurich Classic three times, with his most recent appearance in 2022 alongside Ian Poulter, where they finished 13th. Lowry has also played seven times this year, including a recent appearance at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour, where he tied for 29th.
