Rising Cancer Cases Among Young People: It’s Time to Take Action

A startling 80% rise in cancer rates among young adults

A recent study has shown an alarming increase in the incidence of cancer among young people. Despite common belief that young people are immune to cancer, statistics indicate that the 20-44 age group is seeing a rising number of cases. In fact, globally, the number of young people diagnosed with cancer has increased by 79% between 1990 and 2019.

In Israel, testicular cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, malignant melanoma, breast cancer, and thyroid cancer are among the most common types of cancer among young people. To prevent this disease, it is crucial to maintain a healthy lifestyle from a young age. This includes avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, eating a balanced diet, staying active physically and ensuring safe sun exposure.

It is important for individuals to recognize suspicious symptoms such as unexplained pain or weight loss and seek medical attention early if there is any suspicion of cancer. Symptoms to watch out for include changes in weight or skin moles, lumps or digestive system problems.
