Protecting History: The Importance of Relocating Military Artifacts from the Museum of Science and Industry’s Archives

Science and Industry Museum closes on Wednesday for artifact relocation

The Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde Park closed to the public on April 3rd for unplanned maintenance due to the relocation of military artifacts from its archives. Military personnel and local officials were present to ensure a safe removal process, which prompted the closure decision out of caution.

The museum plans to resume normal admission hours on Thursday, allowing visitors once again to explore exhibits and attractions. Ticketholders for the day of closure will be refunded or given the option to rebook their reservation by calling 773-684-1414.

The closure was necessary to ensure the safe handling and relocation of valuable artifacts, highlighting the importance of preserving and protecting historical items for future generations. The Museum of Science and Industry is excited about welcoming visitors back and providing educational and engaging experiences once again.
