Meta Offers Cash Bonus for Creators on Threads: Meta’s Invite-Only Program to Boost Engagement on Its Platform

Meta to Compensate Creators of High-Quality Threads and Posts

Meta is currently testing a cash bonus program for creators on its Twitter-like app, Threads. A company spokesperson confirmed the news to Business Insider, but details about the accessibility of the program or its duration have not been provided. Eligible creators can earn money based on the performance of their posts or the number of posts shared on the app. Threads posts must have more than 2,500 views to qualify for payouts.

This invite-only program is part of Meta’s efforts to retain users amidst competition from platforms like X, Bluesky, and Mastodon. The surge in downloads after its launch in July has positioned Threads as the top-ranked app on the Apple App Store, surpassing X. With over 130 million monthly active users and steady growth, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the app’s potential.

In addition to Threads, Meta is also experimenting with a “Spring Bonus” program for Instagram, paying creators for engagement on various types of posts. Instagram previously had a bonus program for reels but discontinued it in March 2023. However, there are hints that bonuses might make a return, according to Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. These initiatives underscore Meta’s continued efforts to incentivize creators and enhance user engagement across its platforms.
