International Community Unites in Effort to Control AI for the Benefit of Human Society”.

United Nations makes decision to combat risks of artificial intelligence

In a significant move, the US has announced that all 193 members of the UN General Assembly have agreed to take control of artificial intelligence to prevent it from controlling human society. This decision is part of a global effort to monitor the development of AI technologies and mitigate potential risks such as disruptions to democratic processes, fraud, and job losses.

The international community is working towards creating a framework for the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies. The US, UK, and several other countries unveiled an international agreement on protecting AI from counterfeiting last November. Europe has taken the lead in regulating AI, with EU lawmakers adopting a temporary agreement this month.

In an effort to reduce risks associated with AI, the White House issued a new executive order in October aimed at protecting consumers, workers, and minorities while enhancing national security. The decision provides a set of principles to guide the development and use of AI in the future. While negotiations faced opposition from countries like Russia and China, the US administration engaged in discussions to address differing views. Despite objections from China and Russia, who are exploring the use of AI for various purposes, progress has been slow due to political polarization in the US.
