Green Dirt Farm: Overcoming Uncertainty with New Location and Renewed Vision in Kansas City’s Crossroads District

Business at risk due to stadium construction opens day after sales tax rejection

Green Dirt Farm celebrated the grand opening of their new location in Kansas City’s Crossroads district on Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant, which has recently faced uncertainty due to a vote by Kansas City, Mo. and Jackson County residents against the stadiums sale tax, is now ready to move forward with its vision.

Executive Chef Oskar Arévalo expressed his excitement about the expanded cheese-making capabilities at the new location, highlighting the farm-to-table concept that the restaurant embodies. Despite initial worries and preparations, Arévalo shared that he remains committed to his career and his team’s vision for the restaurant.

The juxtaposition of opening for business as usual after the vote was nerve-wracking, but Arévalo and his team are now poised to establish themselves in their new location and continue serving the local community with their unique offerings. Green Dirt on Oak staff emphasized that the new spot serves as a gathering place offering locally-sourced foods, with their famous cheeses made in house.
