Steve McMichael, a former Chicago Bears defensive tackle and Pro Football Hall of Famer, has been hospitalized this week. His former teammate Walter Payton’s son, Jarrett Payton, confirmed the news that McMichael is back in the hospital undergoing tests.

At 66 years old, McMichael has been battling ALS for several years. Despite his health struggles, he remains a beloved figure among Bears fans for his contributions to the legendary 1985 Bears defense, widely regarded as one of the best in NFL history. After playing 13 seasons with the Bears, McMichael spent his final NFL season with the Green Bay Packers. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2021 and was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame this year as a senior finalist.

The football world is rooting for McMichael’s recovery as he continues to face health challenges.
