Amazon Cuts Hundreds of Jobs in Cloud Division: The Latest in a Series of Cost-Cutting Measures

Hundreds of Employees in Amazon’s Cloud Division Are Being Laid Off

In recent weeks, Amazon has announced that it is laying off hundreds of employees in its cloud division, following a round of job cuts in advertising roles earlier this year. This latest round of layoffs will impact employees working in sales, marketing and Global Services within Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Matt Garman, the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at AWS, confirmed the job cuts to Business Insider in an email. He stated that several hundred roles would be reduced to streamline operations and focus on areas with maximum impact. An AWS spokesperson also confirmed the layoffs, stating that the decisions were made to optimize resources and deliver innovation for customers.

Despite these difficult decisions, Amazon remains committed to supporting employees through the transition process. The company will be working with employees to find new opportunities both within and outside the company.

This cost-cutting campaign at Amazon has led to job cuts across different divisions of the company, including Prime Video and healthcare earlier this year. Reports indicate that Amazon has been placing more employees on performance-improvement plans as they carry out mass layoffs, indicating a trend of downsizing across different divisions of the company.
